Tiger Women Down Lady Choctaws 6-1

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama stretched its winning streak to four matches by taking care of Mississippi College, 6-1, Wednesday in Gulf South Conference women's tennis at the Vaughan Tennis Complex. The victory was also the fourth consecutive 6-1 win by UWA.
 
Ranked 21st in the nation, West Alabama's record is now 5-1 overall, 3-0 in GSC play. Mississippi College dropped to 0-3 and 0-2.
 
The Tigers swept the doubles courts to stake the Tigers to an early 1-0 lead before winning five of six singles matches to cement the final margin.
 
Haina Franco had little trouble at No. 1 singles, defeating Paulina Cota 6-0, 6-1. Daryna Hukasian shutout Fernanda Cota 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Heden Ly was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 3 and Thea Yang won Court 4 in a tiebreak  victory, 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Valeria Arevalo was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 6.
 
Sarah Manseri and Ly won doubles Court 1, 6-3. Yang and Franco were 6-4 victors at No. 2, while Hukasian and Hardija Vidnere won at No. 3, 6-1.
 
The Tigers return to action Tuesday, facing Indianapolis on a neutral site court in Pensacola, Florida. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
