Tigers Road Tripping to Wrap Spring Championship Series

ALL TIME MEETINGS
West Alabama and MC have met on the court 22 times and UWA leads the series all-time 16-6. However, the Lady Choctaws won the most recent meeting back on in Livingston, Alabama March 3 in five sets (28-26, 23-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-8). The Tigers have played no opponent more than UAH. In 52 matches between the squads, the Lady Chargers lead the series 35-17. UAH (25-10, 25-16, 21-25, 20-25, 15-13) won the last meeting in five sets back on Oct. 26, 2019 in Huntsville, Alabama.
 
WEST ALABAMA
West Alabama is 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in GSC Group A competition. The Tigers posted a 1-1 week with a win against Mississippi University for Women in straight sets (25-16, 25-12, 25-8) and a Gulf South Conference Group A loss to Union (24-26, 31-29, 25-18, 25-22) in four sets with both matches taking place in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
The Lady Choctaws are 4-1 during the Spring Championship Series and 2-1 in Group A play following a win in straight sets over Christian Brothers (25-15, 25-16, 25-10) last Wednesday in the only match for MC last week. Jamie Boros posted eight kills followed by Kendall Platt with seven while Lexie Laurendine dished 16 assists. 
 
ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE
The Lady Chargers are 2-1 on the season and in Group A competition after splitting a pair of conference matches last week with a loss in five sets to Union (14-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-13) on March 10 a followed by a win against CBU in three sets (25-18, 25-14, 25-17) last Friday in Memphis, Tennessee. 
 
YOU BETTER RECOGNIZE
MacKenzie Wells was recognized among the Top Defenders in the GSC this week while Quiara Dunson received praise among the Top Freshmen in the league. Wells had 42 digs for the Tigers last week, including 26 against Union. She has 68 digs (6.18 digs/set) in matches against GSC competition this year. Dunson had season-highs in digs (21) and aces (2) in the Tigers' match with Union.
 
JUST HAVE TO BE BLOUNT
Desiree Blount sits third in the GSC in assists this season with 184 total assists at a rate of 7.36 assists per set. The sophomore from Marietta, Georgia has not gone under 20 assists in any match this season for the Tigers. 
 
SIX AND SEVEN
Ally Craig and Madison Fisher are turning into a dynamic duo for the West Alabama attack. The pair of sophomores lead the team in kills as Craig (#6) has 72 kills at a rate of 2.88 per set and Fisher (#7) is at 53 kills while getting 2.12 kills per set.
 
TWO GROUP A OPPONENTS, ONE GROUP A MATCH
Although Mississippi College and the Tigers have met in a Group A match already this season, the match Thursday night will not be a GSC contest and will not count in the standings. Meanwhile, the Saturday afternoon match UAH will be counted in the conference standings.
