16th-Ranked Tigers Skunk Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – West Alabama's 16th-ranked women's tennis team had little trouble remaining undefeated in Gulf South Conference play by defeating Lee, 7-0, Sunday at the DeVos Tennis Center.
 
The Tigers improved to 7-2 overall with the victory, 4-0 in league play. Lee dropped to 5-4 and 2-3.
 
Valeria Arevalo and Morgan Bishop picked up the win at No. 3 doubles to open the day for West Alabama before Thea Yang and Haina Franco clinched the doubles point with a victory at No. 2. The match on Court 1 was not finished.
 
The Tigers were dominant in singles, winning five of six matches in straight sets. Sarah Manseri, Heden Ly, Yang, Arevalo and Hardija Vidnere were straight set winners, while Franco roared back at No. 2 singles after dropping the first set 4-6 to claim back-to-back 6-1 wins over Micaela Belen Maiz.
 
Winners of six of their last seven matches, West Alabama travels to No. 6 West Florida on Tuesday. Lee plays on the road at Mississippi College in a GSC match on Sunday.
