No. 10 Tigers Shellac Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala. – After sweeping doubles competition the University of West Alabama won six singles matches in straight sets to defeat Spring Hill, 7-0, in women's tennis Wednesday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
 
The 10th-ranked Tigers have won three straight matches and seven of their last eight to improve to 8-2. Spring Hill is 4-8.
 
"It was a good day of tennis for us," UWA head coach Jeff Beaman said. "We needed to go in and take care of business and our intensity was where it should have been to do that."
 
Thea Yang, Valeria Arevalo and Hardija Vidnere all recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. 
 
Arevalo and Morgan Bishop started the day off with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, followed by a 6-0 win at No. 2 by Daryna Hukasian and Vidnere. Sarah Manseri and Heden Ly won 6-2 at No. 1 to put the icing on the doubles cake.
 
West Alabama returns to Gulf South Conference play Thursday by hosting No. 25 Auburn-Montgomery at the Vaughan Tennis Complex on the UWA campus.
