No. 10 Tigers Crush AUM

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama women's tennis team had little trouble staying perfect in Gulf South Conference play, cruising to a 7-0 victory over Auburn-Montgomery in a national top 25 matchup Thursday at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
 
The win improved the Tigers to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in GSC play. AUM dropped to 6-5 and 3-3. The win was the third consecutive 7-0 victory for West Alabama.
 
"This was a good win against a ranked opponent," UWA head coach Jeff Beaman said. "We have a few things to work on, but the women are fired up to play at West Florida on Monday."
 
Haina Franco and Thea Yang won at No. 2 doubles, while Hardija Vidnere and Daryna Hukasian took the No. 3 court to give the doubles point to West Alabama.
 
West Alabama then won four of six singles matches in straight sets to dominate the Lady Warhawks. Franco, Hukasian, Heden Ly and Valerie Arevalo were all straight set winners. Sarah Manseri won a 10-8 tiebreak to take No. 1 singles and Yang was an 11-9 tiebreak winner at No. 5.
 
West Alabama travels to No. 6 UWF in a top 10 matchup Monday in Pensacola, Florida. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
