Tiger Men Lose at OBU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – West Alabama won the doubles point but managed just one victory in singles play on the way to a 5-2 men's college tennis loss to Ouachita Baptist Sunday at the Ward Tennis Center.
 
Ouachita Baptist improved to 4-3 with the victory. No. 20 West Alabama dropped to 1-2.
 
West Alabama gained an early advantage by taking the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3, but OBU roared back to take three singles matches in straight sets. West Alabama's lone singles win came from Ilia Dehodiuk in a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Tobias Fuerschuss on Court 3.
 
Christopher Bulus and Ilari Vesanen were 6-4 winners at No. 1 doubles. Noah Johansen and Nuutti Jokinen were 6-3 winners at No. 3 doubles. 

"OBU showed up to play today and played with great fight and great intensity, taking it to our guys in most spots," UWA head coach Jeff Beaman said. "I talked to the players about tomorrow being the real indicator of who they are as individuals and as a team against a very good SAU team."
 
West Alabama remains on the road with a match at Southern Arkansas (6-2) in Magnolia, Arkansas on Monday. Ouachita Baptist plays at Mississippi College on Monday.
