UWA Softball Lost on Walk-Off HR

Cleveland, Miss. - Delta State hit a walk-off home run to defeat West Alabama 4-1 Sunday afternoon at University Field in a Gulf South Conference game.

West Alabama falls to 7-8 overall and 3-6 in GSC play. Delta State improves to 10-7 and 5-4.

"It was a tough loss today. Kacy Noland threw her heart out, and we just didn't put runs on the board. That one stung but we go back to work to prepare for Shorter Saturday," UWA head coach Carie Dever-Boaz said.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the second when Peyton Coots scored on Nicole Buccieri's sacrifice fly. UWA took a 1-0 lead but DSU tied the game in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by Taylor Picou.

West Alabama could only produce two hits in the game. Abby McKee and Coots had the two hits for the Tigers.

Delta State pitcher Lacey Coats (7-2) kept the Tigers in check for most of the game allowing two hits, no earned runs and striking out two.
