VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State pounded out 14 hits to score 13 runs to defeat West Alabama 13-2 on Steel's Diamond at Blazer Park Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Blazers improved to 23-3 overall and 17-2 in GSC play. UWA drops to 13-16 overall, 9-13 in the GSC.

VSU took a 2-0 lead going into the third and the Tigers cut into that lead in the top of the inning. Kacy Noland hit an RBI single to score Kelsie Gilliam. With the run, the Tigers trimmed the Blazers lead to 2-1.

Trailing 4-1 after three innings, the Tigers scored again in the top of the fourth. Chrissy Tubbs RBI single scored Mary Grace Sheffield to cut the Blazers lead 4-2.

Valdosta State scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth to break open the game. 

Tubbs led the Tigers going 2-for-2 with an RBI in the game.

Kaeleigh Crutchfield (3-1) took the loss going 2.2 innings giving up four runs on five hits with one strikeout.

The Tigers will now play the doubleheader against Valdosta State Sunday due to inclement weather this afternoon. First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
