Tiger Softball Falls to Lady Flames, UWA Wins Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala.- Lee University won 3-1 in the last game of the Gulf South Conference series Saturday afternoon at UWA Softball Complex. With the Tigers sweep over the Lady Flames yesterday, West Alabama wins the GSC series.

"We had so many chances and stranded too many on base," UWA head coach Carie Dever-Boaz said. "I loved how they fought until the end, and we had the tying run on base down to the last out."

Lee improved to 14-18 and 11-13 in GSC play. The Tigers dropped to 15-19 and 11-16.

The Lady Flames scored a run in the first and two runs in the seventh to take a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, UWA rallied on a Kacy Noland RBI single to score Presley Witt to cut the lead 3-1.

The Tigers put the tying runs on base but couldn't get the hit and fell short to the Flames.

Noland (7-9) pitched a strong complete game giving up three runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

"It is now time to get non-conference work in the week, rest up and then prep for Auburn Montgomery," Dever-Boaz said.

The Tigers host a doubleheader against Spring Hill College Tuesday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
