Tiger Softball Drops DH to AUM

LIVINGSTON, Ala.- Auburn Montgomery defeated West Alabama in both games of the doubleheader Saturday afternoon at UWA Softball Complex. 

AUM improves to 34-5 overall and 24-5 in GSC play. The Tigers drop to 18-22 overall and 11-18 in the conference. 

Game One
Auburn Montgomery pounded out 11 hits to defeat West Alabama in game one, 11-3. 

The Warhawks started off strong and remained steady the whole game, improving their lead to 4-0 by the end of the third. The bats came alive for AUM in the fourth, gaining them six runs and  improving their lead to 10-0.

UWA got their only three runs in the fourth. LP Trammell RBI single scored Chrissy Tubbs.

West Alabama rounded out their final two runs of the game off Nicole Buccieri RBI double scoring Trammell and Mary Grace Sheffield. Sheffield pitch ran for Grace Self and cut AUM's lead to 10-3.

Auburn Montgomery scored one more run in the fifth to close out the game with the final margin set at 11-3.

Kacy Noland (8-10) absorbed the loss for the Tigers. Noland worked 2.2 innings while giving up four earned runs.

Game Two
AUM scored four runs on seven hits to defeat West Alabama, 4-1, in game two. 

The Warhawks earned two runs in the third.

West Alabama cut the lead in the fourth, 2-1, off Buccieri's sacrifice fly scoring Morgan Windham, who pitch ran for Noland.

Auburn Montgoemry scored two more runs in the sixth to close out the game, 4-1.

Kaeleigh Crutchfield (5-3) took the loss for the Tigers. Crutchfield worked the whole game allowing four earned runs while striking out three.

UWA returns to action tomorrow to wrap up their regular season. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. against the Warhawks.
