THE SERIES
This will be the first time that West Alabama will take on North American University. NAU is an independent program looking to join the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in Fall 2022.

WEST ALABAMA
West Alabama is 2-0 after opening the season with back-to-back victories against SIAC opponents. The Tigers defeated Morehouse College 48-7 in week one and Tuskegee 33-7 in week two.

NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITY
The Stallions are 2-1 on the season. North American defeated Louisiana College 42-41 and Louisiana Community Christian 30-14 and lost to Lamar University 47-3.

THE COACHES
Brett Gilliland is 47-26 in his eighth season as a head coach, all at UWA. Ken Apande is 4-6 at NAU.

RADIO

CAREER GAME FOR DUNKLE

Gabriel Dunkle made a career-high of four field goals last week against Tuskegee. He also had a career-long 47-yarder. Due to his effort, Dunkle became the first Jack's Player of the Week for West Alabama. He is ranked 2nd in the nation in field goals per game, with six made to average 3.00 per game.  He is ranked number one in the GSC and 30th with a field goal percentage of .750. He is also ranked 1st in the GSC for scoring with six field goals and nine PAT for 27 total points.

MCDANIELS STILL TOP TEN
Jack McDaniels still holds the ninth national spot and is number one in the GSC in passing yards with 638. McDaniels had 344 yards against Morehouse in the opening week and added 294 against Tuskegee in week two. He rose to ninth in UWA  history in career passing yards with a 3,579 and is ranked second in the GSC this season in total offense.

HATCHER WITH 12
Josh Hatcher had 12 total tackles in last week's game against Tuskegee. The senior linebacker had nine solo tackles and three assists. The Roanoke, Ala. native also had two tackles for a loss of five yards and a fumble recovery. He is four shy of 100 career tackles.

SMITH RUSHING TO THE TOP
James Smith, III ranks third in the GSC in rushing yards, seventh in all purpose yards, and 11th in total offense. Smith has played in both games for 31 carries for 193 yards and two touchdowns. He averages 96.5 yards per game.

UWA OFFENSE
West Alabama is still ranked nationally in the top-10 in total offense and second in the GSC. At eighth nationally, the Tigers have recorded 147 plays this season for 1,017 yards to average 6.92 yards per play for nine touchdowns. UWA puts up 508.5 yards per game.

THE D-BLOCK
Despite dropping out of the top-10, the Tiger defense is doing great work on the field. Ranking 16th nationally and second in the GSC,   The D-Block has held its opponent to 122 plays over two games for 414 yards to average just 3.39 yards per play. The D-Block has held the opposition to just two touchdowns.

NEXT WEEK
West Alabama will begin conference play when it travels to Clinton, Miss., to take on Mississippi College. The game is set for 7 p.m. CT.
