LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama volleyball team (0-8,0-2) fell to the one set curse, dropping a Friday home match against conference rival the University of Alabama – Huntsville, 3-1 (15-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18).
Despite the loss, the Tigers have shown much improvement from their earlier matches of the season. Nathalia Medeiros was again the offensive leader, but this time, she landed a season-high 15 kills on 36 total attacks, and she also had one solo block.
After breaking her season-high with 32 assists against Mississippi College Tuesday night, sophomore setter Desiree Blount recorded another season-high of 35 against the Chargers. The Marietta, Ga. native also contributed defensively with 17 digs.
Madison Fisher played well on both sides of the ball. She led the defense with 19 digs and was second offensively with 11 kills on 41 total attacks.
Isabela Sarti recorded three block assists, while Beatriz Giordan and Ameila Johnigan had two each.
As a team, UWA recorded 46 kills on 155 total attacks for a .129 attacking percentage. The Tigers pulled up 79 total digs, one block solo, and eight block assists.
West Alabama will return to court tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 25 to take on Montevallo. The first serve is set for 2 p.m.
