Women’s Basketball Returns With Matchup Against CBU

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball is back in action after having two away games postponed due to COVID-19 protocol. The Tigers take on Christian Brothers on Saturday, Jan. 15 in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

This is the 24th meeting between the Tigers and the Buccaneers. The series is tied 12-12. UWA defeated CBU 68-41 in the latest matchup on February 22, 2021 in Livingston, Ala. The Tigers also defeated the Buccaneers 60-51 in the first matchup on January 3, 2007.

The Tigers are 10-4 on the season and 4-2 in GSC play. The game against Lee University and Auburn Montgomery both were postponed. Lee University has been postponed to February 21. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. in Paul Dana Walker Arena in Cleveland, Tenn. The AUM makeup game will be announced at a later date.

Tazsa Garrett-Hammett leads the Tigers offense, averaging 15.7 points per game, ranking her seventh in the GSC for scoring. She also averages 6.4 rebounds per game.

Bria Dent is leading UWA in rebounds, averaging 10.4 rebounds per game. She is ranked second in the GSC for rebounds. The junior guard is also ranked eleventh in the GSC for scoring, averaging 14.2 points per game.

Jala Williams leads the Tigers in assists. The junior guard has dished out 62 assists, ranking her second in the conference for assists.

Christian Brothers brings a 4-10 overall record to Livingston. The Buccaneers are 3-5 in the conference.

CBU guard Emily Jones leads the GSC in scoring. She averages 19.9 points per game.

There will be no admission charge for the game. Fans are encouraged to social distance. Doors will open one hour before tip-off.
