Tigers Battle Montevallo in GSC Matchup on Wednesday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball team hits the road and heads to Montevallo, Ala. Wednesday, Jan. 19 to battle Montevallo in a Gulf South Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at Trustmark Arena.

The Tigers head to Montevallo with a 11-4 overall record and are 5-2 in GSC play. The Tigers defeated the Falcons 74-65 in the latest matchup on February 23. UWA and Montevallo's first matchup was on November 23 when the Falcons defeated the Tigers 76-68.

The Tigers offense is led by Tazsa Garrett-Hammett. The senior forward averages 15.9 points per game, ranking her sixth in the GSC in scoring. She is also averaging 6.4 rebounds per game.

Bria Dent is second in the GSC for rebounding, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game. The junior guard is averaging 15.1 points per game, ranking her ninth in the conference for scoring.

The Falcons head into the game with a 7-11 overall record and are 3-7 in GSC play. Montevallo's guard Jordan Jones is averaging 12.2 points per game with 3.3 rebounds per game.

There will be a $5 general admission charge for the game. Concessions are also available. Due to COVID-19 protocol, masks will be required when indoors.
