Women's Tennis Falls Short in Exhibition Match

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga – The West Alabama women's tennis team was defeated by the five-time defending NAIA National Champions Georgia Gwinnett 5-2 Wednesday afternoon in Lawrenceville, Ga at the GGC Tennis Facility. 
 
This was an exhibition match for the Tigers and was a regular season match for Georgia Gwinnett. Georgia Gwinnett's win streak improves to 44. 
 
Heden Ly and Hardija Vidnere defeated Tereza Koplova and Eva Siska 7-5. However, GGC won courts one and two to claim the doubles point. 
 
Katia de la Garza won two sets against Eva Siska 6-1 and 6-4 to get the point for the Tigers.
 
Almudena Sanz won her singles match against Maria Genovese. Genovese won the first set 6-0 and Sanz rallied back to win the next two sets to get the final point for UWA. 
 
Women's tennis will be back in action on Wednesday, February 2 at South Alabama in an exhibition match.
