West Alabama Falls to Union, 88-80

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Three Tigers scored in double-digits as the West Alabama men's basketball team faced its toughest competition of the season in conference rival Union University. UWA's undefeated run at home ended as the Bulldogs held on to their No. 1 position in the Gulf South Conference, 88-80.
 
Kortrijk Miles made his return to the court on Thursday to record his seventh double-double of the season. The Dallas, Texas native put up 21 points and brought down 10 rebounds to lead UWA.
 
Shardarrion Allen and Justin Allison were also top scorers for the Tigers. Allen finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Allison had 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
 
As a unit, West Alabama (15-4, 8-3 GSC) saw above-average numbers. The Tigers went 27-for-61 (44.3%) from the floor, including 5-of-17 (29.4%) in three-point range. UWA collected 21 points at the line in 23 attempts and beat their blocking average with five blocks on the night.
 
Union (16-4, 10-2) went up against the top defense in the nation but managed to hang on for the win. The Bulldogs made 29 of 59 shots from the field, with 10 of 17 beyond the arc. They made 20 of their 24 shots at the line as Tyree Boykin led the team with a game-high of 27 points.
 
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 29, when they host Lee University. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
