Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Shutout West Georgia 2-0 on Senior Day

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's soccer team shutout West Georgia 2-0 in a Gulf South Conference matchup Sunday afternoon at Tiger Stadium. With the shutout, the Tigers went undefeated at home for the season. UWA honored seniors Paige Laidler and Maria Mon on Senior Day. 

"I am delighted for the ladies, to finish off the home slate with a win," UWA head coach Graeme Orr said. "Today we battled extremely hard against last year GSC finalist. They have some great players; however, we showed our depth with young players making a major impact."
 
The Tigers improved to 9-4-1 on the season and are now 8-2-1 in GSC play. The Wolves dropped to 5-6-4 overall and are 3-4-4 in the conference. 
 
The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the first half when Camilla Bedin scored off a penalty kick at the 28:53 mark. This was Bedin's first goal of the season. Heading into the half, the Tigers held a 1-0 advantage over the Wolves.  
 
The second goal of the match came from Emily Callahan at the 73:05 mark, assisted by Sierra O'Grady. This was O'Grady's second goal of the season. UWA held onto the lead and closed the game with a 2-0 victory over the Wolves. 
 
Goalie Mon recorded six saves, while the Wolves goalkeeper Haley Brinkman recorded one save. 
 
UWA took 10 shots, with three being on goal. UWG took 13 shots, six on target. The Wolves held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-3.
 
The Tigers return to the pitch on Friday as they take on Lee University at 4 p.m. CT at Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland, Tennessee.
