Women’s Soccer Falls in GSC Matchup Against Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - West Alabama women's soccer team took a 1-0 defeat from Lee University on Friday evening at Ray Conn Sports Complex. The Tigers moved to 9-5-1 overall and are now 8-3-1 in GSC play. The Flames improved to 9-2-5 overall and are 7-2-3 in the conference. 
 
The only goal of the game came at the 8:51 mark. The Flames found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team scored the remainder of the game, allowing Lee to take the 1-0 victory.
 
Goalie Maria Mon recorded four saves, while the Flames goalkeeper Josie Taylor did not have any. 
 
UWA took only two shots compared to Lee's 13 shots. Each team had three corner kicks. There were 18 fouls called in the matchup. UWA was called for eight, while Lee was called for 10. 
 
The Tigers return to the pitch on Sunday as they take on Shorter at noon CT at Ben Brady Field in Rome, Georgia.
