UWA Volleyball Travels to Shorter and Lee

ROME, Ga. - The West Alabama volleyball team has two back-to-back Gulf South Conference matches on the road this weekend against Shorter and Lee University. The Tigers head into the weekend with a 6-18 overall record and are 1-8 in GSC play. 
 
The Tigers take on the Hawks of Shorter on Friday at 5 p.m. CT inside Winthrop-King Centre. 
The Hawks are 12-13 overall and 5-4 in the conference. Shorter leads the series, 10-4. 
 
Madison Fisher leads UWA attackers with 177 kills, averaging 2.1 per set. Nathalia Medeiros follows Fisher with 145 kills, averaging 1.7 kills per set. Chyna Dixon leads the Tigers in assists with 313, followed by Maddie Van Dyke with 297 assists. MacKenzie Wells leads the team with 41 service aces. Wells also leads the defense with 314 digs, ranking seventh in the GSC.
 
The Hawks outside hitter Lacee Glover leads Shorter attackers with 202 kills, followed by Annie Veldhuis with 183. Setter Annie Smith has dished out 453 assists this season for the Hawks. Libero Madison Sprosty leads the defense with 368 digs, ranking her fifth in the conference. Live stream and live stats will be available for the match.  
 
UWA will head to Cleveland, Tennessee, to battle Lee University on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT inside Paul Dana Walker Arena. Lee is winning the series, 7-6. 
 
Abby Stroh is leading the Flames in kills with 231, averaging 2.6 kills per set, followed by Macy Petty with 125 kills. Ashton Middleton dished out 462 assists for the Flames, ranking her ninth in the GSC. Kamryn Halpin leads the defense with 233 digs, followed by Stroh with 228.
