Medeiros Has Season-High of 14 Kills in Matchup Against AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - West Alabama volleyball team fell to Auburn Montgomery 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-21) in a Gulf South Conference match on Friday evening inside AUM Athletics Complex. The Tigers dropped to 6-22 overall and are now 1-12 in GSC play. The Warhawks improved to 14-14 overall and are now 8-5 in the conference.
 
Nathalia Medeiros led UWA attackers and had a season-high of 14 kills. Medeiros added six digs. Maddie Van Dyke had 17 assists. MacKenzie Wells led the defense with 15 digs. 
 
AUM jumped to a 6-2 lead to start the match. The Warhawks went on a 7-2 run to improve their lead to 13-4. Both teams traded points, but AUM closed out the set with a 25-14 win. 
 
The Warhawks started the second set with a 13-3 lead. UWA went on a 5-1 run to cut the lead to 16-9. AUM claimed the final points of the set, 25-13. 
 
The Tigers opened the third set with a 7-4 lead over the Warhawks. AUM went on a 5-0 run to take the lead 9-7. AUM continued the lead and closed out the third set with a 25-21 victory and won the match 3-0. 
 
AUM held the edge in kills (45-21), aces (6-2), blocks (8-2), assists (44-20), and digs (54-36). 
 
Alessia Cappai led the Warhawks with 15 kills and 11 digs. Ylenia De Mango had nine kills in the matchup, hitting .818. Reann Cato tallied 12 digs. Amber Bretwisch had 22 assists. 
 
 The Tigers return to action on Saturday as they take on West Florida in a GSC matchup. First serve is set for noon at UWF Field House in Pensacola, Florida.
