Women's Hoops Set to Open GSC Play Against Montevallo on Saturday

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball team opens up Gulf South Conference play against Montevallo on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Trustmark Arena. The Tigers started the season with a 1-1 overall record at the Puerto Rico Clásico. 

Montevallo is 0-4 overall and 0-1 in GSC play. This is the 15th meeting between West Alabama and Montevallo. UWA leads the series 8-6. The first meeting was in January 2011, when the Tigers defeated the Falcons 70-62.  Montevallo won the latest meeting 78-61 in January 2022.

After two games, three Tigers are averaging double figures. Bria Dent is leading the offense, averaging 19.5 points per game and 16.5 rebounds per game. Jala Williams is averaging 13 points, seven assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. Maryanne Logsdon is averaging 12 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
 
The Falcons' senior guard Marisa Snodgrass leads Montevallo's offense with 10.8 points per game, six rebounds per game, and 2.8 steals per game. Freshman guard Isabel Grimes leads the Falcons with 10 assists.
