The Tigers Grab a Thrilling 74-72 Victory over AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A jumper by Bria Dent, along with a free throw in the last few seconds of the game, allowed the West Alabama women's basketball team to grab a 74-72 victory over Auburn Montgomery Saturday afternoon at AUM Athletics Complex. 
 
With the win, the Tigers improved to 4-1 overall and are now 2-0 in GSC play. The Warhawks dropped to 1-4 overall and are 0-2 in the conference. 
 
Three Tigers scored in double figures. Dent led the Tigers with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Maryanne Logsdon posted 20 points, three assists, three rebounds, and a steal. Zoe Watts added 12 points and six rebounds. 
 
As a unit, UWA shot 52.6 percent (30-of-57) from the field and 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from the three-point range.
 
Heading into halftime, the Tigers held a one-point advantage over the Warhawks, 29-28. In the third quarter, AUM pulled a head 52-49. 
 
Logsdon made a jumper and a free throw to bring the game to a tie, 52-52, to start the fourth quarter. 
 
With 9:17 remaining, AUM made two layups to take the lead. A layup by Dent and a free throw from Kamille Clark trimmed the Warhawks' lead to 56-55. Logsdon drained a three-pointer, and Dent made a layup to hold a 60-58 advantage over the Warhawks at the 6:22 mark.

With 5:09 remaining in the game, there were seven lead exchanges. Logsdon made a jumper at the 1:01 mark to take the 71-70 lead. Two Warhawk free throws gave AUM a 72-71 lead with 37 seconds left in the game. Dent scored a jumper with 12 seconds left on the clock and knocked in a free throw to allow the Tigers to grab a 74-72 victory over AUM. 
 
The Tigers turned the Warhakws' 24 turnovers into 32 points. AUM held the advantage in bench points, 23-7, and points in the paint, 34-32.
 
Allasha Dudley dropped 25 points for AUM. Jeremiah Moore posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. 
 
AUM shot 55.8 percent (29-of-52) from the floor, 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from beyond the arc, and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the foul line. 

The Tigers host Alabama Huntsville on Monday. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
