UWA Volleyball Took UAH to Five Sets

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama volleyball team took a 3-2 (20-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-9) defeat from Alabama Huntsville in a Gulf South Conference match to wrap up the 2022 season Friday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 

The Tigers dropped to 6-25 overall and are 1-15 in GSC play. The Chargers improved to 15-15 and 9-7 in the conference.

Madison Fisher and Ally Craig were the only Tigers to post double figures in kills. Fisher had 11 kills, while Criag added 10 slams. Amelia Johnigan and Nathalia Medeiros added eight kills. Chyna Dixon was credited with 22 assists and two service aces. MacKenzie Wells tallied 27 digs. Johanna Martin sent back eight blocks.

The Tigers took the first two sets (25-20,25-22). Alabama Huntsville came back to claim the next three sets (25-22, 25-22, 15-9) and take the 3-2 victory. 

Alabama Huntsville held the advantage in kills (61-42), aces (11-5), assists (58-39), and digs (76-58). UWA held the advantage in blocks,13-5. 

Ally Kennis led UAH's attackers with 15 kills. Savannah Rutledge had 52 assists. Hailey Holshouser tallied 22 digs. The Chargers posted a .122 hitting percentage with 61 kills and 40 errors on 172 attacks.
