Women's Basketball Continues GSC Play Against Shorter at Home on Friday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball team is set to host a Gulf South Conference matchup against Shorter on Friday. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.

The Tigers are 5-1 overall and 3-0 in GSC play after grabbing a 67-66 win over Alabama Huntsville on Nov. 28. The Hawks are 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

This is the 18th meeting between the two teams. Shorter leads the series 9-8. In the latest matchup, the Tigers took a 71-69 defeat from the Hawks in February 2022.

Bria Dent is leading the Tigers' offense, averaging 19 points per game and 12.3 rebounds per game. Maryanne Logsdon is averaging 13.5 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game. Jala Williams is averaging 13 points per game, 7.6 assists per game, and 4.3 rebounds per game.

As a unit, UWA averages 71 points per game, shooting 46.6 percent from the floor, 33.9 percent from the three-point range, and 65.2 percent from the free throw line. The Tigers hold their opponent to 64.8 points per game.

The Hawks' sophomore guard Derrica McCall leads Shorters' offense with 12.8 points per game and three rebounds per game. Freshman guard Keyra Peterson averages 5.8 boards per game.

General admission tickets will be $5 at the entrance or can be purchased ahead of time here. Children five and under will be admitted free.
