Women's Basketball Faces Two GSC Teams This Weekend

CLINTON, Miss. - West Alabama women's basketball team faces two Gulf South Conference teams on the road this weekend. 
 
The Tigers head to Clinton, Mississippi, on Friday to take on Mississippi College at 5 p.m. inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. The Tigers head into the weekend with a 6-2 overall record and 4-1 in GSC play. Mississippi College is 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the conference. 
 
This is the 17th meeting between West Alabama and Mississippi College. The Tigers lead the series, 10-6. In the latest matchup, UWA took a 61-51 defeat from the Choctaws in February.

Bria Dent is leading the GSC in scoring and in rebounds, averaging 19.6 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per contest. Dent ranks 12th nationally in rebounds per game and 23rd in points per game. 

Jala Williams averages 12.3 points per game, 7.6 assists per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and 2.9 steals per game. Williams leads the GSC in assists and in steals. She ranks fourth nationally in assists per game and 12th in steals. Williams is 13th in the GSC in scoring. 

Maryanne Logsdon averages 12.3 points per game and 3.6 assists and rebounds per game. Logsdon ranks sixth in the GSC in assists with a total of 26. Zoe Watts averages 10.3 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. 

As a unit, UWA averages 65.9 points per game, shooting 43.9 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent from the three-point range, and 64 percent from the free throw line. The Tigers hold their opponent to 62.3 points per game. 
 
The junior guard Kyiah Julian leads the Choctaws' offense with 11.4 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Keller Bigham averages six boards per game. 
 
UWA faces Delta State on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Walter Sillers Coliseum in Cleveland, Mississippi. The Statesmen are 4-6 overall and 3-3 in GSC play. 
 
DSU's forward, Camryn Davis, leads the offense with 13 points per game and six rebounds per game. Senior guard Alanna Smith averages 11 points per contest and grabs 2.7 rebounds per game. 
 
General admission tickets are $8 at the entrance or can be purchased ahead of time here. Youth (6-18) and senior citizens (60+) tickets are $5. Children five and under will be admitted free. 
 
Both live stream and live stats will be available. There will be no radio for the Delta State game.
