Tiger Tennis Drops Top 25 Matches at Columbus State

Columbus, Ga – The nationally-ranked West Alabama men's and women's tennis teams both came up on the short end of matches on Saturday afternoon at the nationally ranked Columbus State's men and women at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.  
 
"Tough loss against a very good team, a team I would love for us to get the chance to play again this season," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. 
 
The No. 25 ranked UWA men were defeated 6-1 against the No. 2 ranked Columbus State. Loic Danze picked up the only point for the Tigers, defeating Justin Weiz 6-4, 6-3. 
  
The No. 5 ranked UWA women lost 3-4 to No. 7 ranked Columbus State. The Tigers gained one point in the doubles matches. Almudena Sanz received a point for winning her singles match 6-4, 6-3 against Valentina Abrile. 
 
Katia De La Garza defeated Mariana Ramirez 6-2, 6-4 to grab another point for the Tigers.

UWA's men and women are both 1-1 this season. 
 
Both Tiger tennis teams will return to GSC play at Shorter on Tuesday, February 15 in Rome, Ga at 1:00 p.m.
