Tigers Battle Shorter in GSC Road Matchup on Wednesday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball team heads to Rome, Ga. on Wednesday, Feb. 9 to take on Shorter University in a Gulf South Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. inside Winthrop-King Centre.

The Tigers head into the game with a 13-7 overall record and are 7-4 in GSC play. The Hawks are 2-12 overall, 0-11 in the conference. 

Tazsa Garrett-Hammett leads the Tigers offense, averaging 16.4 points per game, ranking her sixth in the GSC in scoring. The senior forward averages 6.9 rebounds per game, ranking her 12th in the conference. 

Bria Dent is ranked second in the GSC for rebounds, averaging 10.5 rebounds per game. The Birmingham, Ala. native is the second leading scorer for the Tigers, averging15.1 points per game, ranking her 10th in the conference. The junior guard is also ranked sixth in the conference for steals, leading UWA with 40. 

Shorter guard Jasmine Gaines leads the Hawks offense, averaging 18.6 points per game, ranking her second in the GSC. Freshman center Tiara Lewis is leading the Hawks in rebounds, averaging 7.9 a game.
