Women's Tennis Blanks No. 24 Angelo State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 13 West Alabama women's tennis team shut out No. 24 Angelo State 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

"A great match against a ranked program. I like how we stepped up across the board in singles after a very tough doubles," graduate assistant coach Andrii Stratiienko said. 

UWA improves to 8-3 overall and the Belles drop to 8-3.
 
The Tigers won two of the three doubles matches to get the first point of the contest. 
 
Haina Franco, who is ranked No. 28 in singles, defeated No. 17 Dianela Rodriguez 6-3, 7-5. 
 
Valeria Arevalo won her singles match against No. 74 ranked Ramitha Irrinki 6-2, 1-6, 10-6.
 
UWA won all singles matches to get the 7-0 victory over the Belles. 
 
The women will return to action at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Louisiana Tech.
