UWA Softball Sweeps Miles College

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama softball team sweeps Miles College in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at UWA Softball Complex. The Tigers defeated the Lady Bears 11-3 in game one and shutout MC 15-0 in game two.

The Tigers improved to 9-9 overall and remained 1-2 in GSC play.

Game One
West Alabama took down Miles College 11-3 in game one of the doubleheader. 

LP Trammell and Kacy Noland led the Tigers from the plate. Trammell went 2-for-3, collected three RBIs, and scored two runs. Noland also went 2-for-3, had two RBIs, and scored two runs. 

In the first inning, the Tigers pounded out four hits and scored nine runs to take a 9-2 lead.

UWA added another run to improve the lead to 10-2 in the second inning when Kacy Noland singled through the left side, bringing Kendall Johnson home. 

Miles College added one run in the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth inning, LP Trammell homered to left center to gain the 11-2 advantage.

Miles College could not score any more runs in the fifth inning, allowing the Tigers to claim the 11-2 victory over the Lady Bears.

Hannah Mynard (3-2) pitched a complete game. The Enterprise, Ala. native gave up one earned run and struck out six.

Game Two
The Tigers shutout Miles College 15-0 in game two to claim the doubleheader sweep. 

In the first inning, Mynard hit a three-run homer, driving in Taylor Clegg and Kacy Noland to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead over the Lady Bears. 

Clegg's sacrifice fly, drove in Kelsie Gilliam in the second inning, improving the lead to 4-0. The third inning was a scoreless inning for both teams. 

The Tigers pounded out six hits and scored 11 runs in the fourth inning. Two home runs were hit in this inning. Mynard hit another three-run homer and Grace Self homered to center field. 

The Tigers closed out the game in the top of the fifth inning after Kaeleigh Crutchfield struck out three. UWA closed out the game with a 15-0 victory over Miles College.

Crutchfield (4-4) pitched the complete game. She didn't give up any earned runs and struck out nine.

The Tigers return to action this Saturday as they take on Shorter University in a GSC doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon CT at Alto Park Softball Complex in Rome, Georgia.
