LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis won its 19th straight Gulf South Conference regular season match since the 2020 season Sunday afternoon by sweeping Christian Brothers 7-0 at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
"The Christian Brothers women came out and battled hard pushing us in several spots. Our women stepped up when pressed and came out with an impressive sweep," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.
West Alabama improved to 11-4 on the year and 6-0 in GSC play. CBU fell to 12-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Tigers had battles in doubles competition but were able to claim the point.
In singles, the No. 49 ranked singles player Almudena Sanz defeated No. 20 Raquel Amaro 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.
No. 12 Haina Franco defeated Maud Vandeputte 6-4, 4-6, and 7-6 on the third set winning the tiebreaker 2-0.
The Tigers swept all courts to get the shutout win against Christian Brothers.
The Tigers will return to Pensacola, Fla. for a match against Valdosta State at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex beginning at 9:30 a.m. on April 3rd.
