Women's Tennis Sweeps Valdosta State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Alabama women's tennis swept Valdosta State, 7-0 at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on Sunday in a Gulf South Conference match. 
 
The No. 11 UWA women's team improved to 12-4 overall and 7-0 in the GSC while the Blazers fell to 7-9 and 6-2. 
 
"A good win for the women, where we were pushed in several matches. We stayed strong to win across the board," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. 
 
The Tigers won every single court at doubles and singles. Katia de la Garza and Haina Franco won 6-0 in doubles to get the morning started. The Tigers won all doubles courts to clinch the point. 
 
In singles, Garza defeated Rachelle Starreveld 6-1, 6-2 to improve her overall record at singles to 11-0. Franco picked up a win 6-4, 6-0 at #2 singles against Elisa Beau 6-4, 6-0. 
 
The women return home on Wednesday against Clark Atlanta at the Vaughan Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
