LIVINGSTON, Ala – The No. 6 ranked West Alabama women's tennis defeated No. 12 West Florida Sunday afternoon 7-0 in a Gulf South Conference match at the Vaughan Tennis Complex. 

With the win, UWA improves to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in GSC play. UWF falls to 1-4 and 1-1. 

"A good win for the women, it is always tough to play the same opponent in such a short period of time. We battled hard and took care of what we had to do," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. 

The Tigers won every match during the contest. Haina Franco and Katia de la Garza had the only singles matches go to three sets. 

Franco won her match against Irene Recuenco 6-2, 4-6, and 6-2. Garza won the point by a score of 6-3, 4-6, and 6-1. 

West Alabama will be back in action against a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Grand Valley State on Friday in Pensacola, Fla.
