Mens Tennis Falls at Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. – West Alabama men's tennis was defeated by Delta State 5-2 in a Gulf South Conference match at the Cleveland Country Club Sunday afternoon.
 
"We had chances at some spots today. We were not able to convert, and Delta State was better today," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. 
 
The Tigers fall to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play while the Statesmen improve to 8-7 and 6-3. 
 
Marcel Hornung and Lucas Hammond won doubles 6-3. Delta State won the other two doubles matches to take the first point. 
 
In singles action, Nuutti Jokinen won his singles match against Emiliano Elizarraraz 7-6, 0-6, 10-7. Loic Danze defeated Franco Roldan 7-5, 7-6. 
 
Delta State had wins on the remaining singles courts to claim the victory. 

West Alabama returns to action on Thursday when they host Auburn-Montgomery at 2 p.m. at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
