Men's Tennis Drops Road Match at Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis was defeated by Alabama State 4-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. 
 
West Alabama drops to 7-8 overall and Alabama State improves to 10-6. 
 
Tough match for the men against a strong opponent. The three deciding matches all went three sets, but ASU came out on top," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. 
 
The Tigers started out strong winning the doubles point. Marcel Hornung and Lucas Hammond won against ASU's Chris Andre and Kristofer Johnson 7-6. Ilia Dehodiuk and Ilari Vesanen came out on top against Ruan De Preez and Sam Bajracharia 6-3. 

After taking the doubles point, the Tigers lost the four of the six singles matches that were completed. 

Ilia Dehodiuk and Ilari Vesanen both were in the third set when Alabama State claimed the match over the Tigers and the matches were left unfinished. 

West Alabama will host Auburn-Montgomery on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Gulf South Conference action at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
