Men's Tennis Takes Down AUM

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis picked up a Gulf South Conference win against Auburn-Montgomery on Thursday afternoon at the Vaughan Tennis Complex by a score of 5-2.
 
"Today was a good conference win for the men and they brought good energy. We have a big nonconference match against UAB tomorrow," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.
 
The Tigers improve to 8-8 overall and 5-3 in the GSC. The Warhawks drops to 10-10 and 5-3.
 
West Alabama started out strong sweeping the doubles courts to get the point.
 
In singles play, Ilari Vesanen defeated Muhamed Bedwan 7-6, 6-3. Loic Danze won against Giovanni Bellio at court No. 4 by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Nuutti Jokinen defeated David Mulas 6-2, 6-2.
 
Lucas Hammond earned the final point by defeating Adrien Guye 7-3, 6-0.

Patricio Nieto lost to Thibault Jacq 4-6, 4-6 and Joao Guariente defeated Ilia Dehodiuk when Dehodiuk had to retire. 
 
West Alabama will travel to the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Friday at 4 p.m. at the UAB Tennis Courts in a nonconference match.
