Men's Tennis Advances to GSC Semis

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis advances to the Gulf South Conference Tournament Semi-finals with a 4-1 victory over Auburn-Montgomery at the O'Connor Tennis Center. 
 
UWA improves to 10-9 on the season and AUM drops to 10-12. 

"I am really proud of our guys today, we were tested and they responded well. Now we will turn our focus to playing West Florida in the second round," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. 
 
The Tigers jumped early to take the lone doubles point winning courts one and three. Marcel Hornung and Lucas Hammond won their 10th doubles match of the season. 
 
Loic Danze and Hammond won singles matches on courts five and six, both were in two sets. Ilia Dehodiuk dropped his match against Giovanni Bellio 7-5, 6-4. 
 
The match was clinched when Nuutti Jokinen defeated Nino Portugal 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 won at No. 4 singles. 
 
The Tigers will take on the GSC Regular Season Champions in West Florida on Friday at 10 a.m. at Lagoon Park.
