Women's Tennis Going Back to the GSC Championship

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis is headed back to the Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship after sweeping Valdosta State 4-0 at Lagoon Park. 
 
The Tigers will have the opportunity to win back-to-back GSC Tournament Championships when they play the winner of West Florida and Auburn-Montgomery on Saturday at Lagoon Park at 11 a.m. 
 
"Another great win and a dominant performance. The players and coaches all feel very good going in the match tomorrow. We need to stay focused and ready to play," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. 
 
UWA started out on right foot by winning the doubles point. Heden Ly and Hardija Vidnere won 6-0 at court three. Haina Franco and Katia de la Garza won 7-5 at court one. 
 
Franco won singles court three to get things going for the Tigers by defeating Anastasiia Vorobiova 7-5, 6-0. Garza clinched the third point on court two by winning 6-2, 6-3 against Natalie Kohoutkova.
 
Ly clinched the match for the Tigers by taking down Rachelle Starreveld 6-2, 6-3 on court five. 

UWA improves to 18-4 overall and Valdosta State finishes the season 8-14.
