Softball Falls to AUM, Game Two at 3:30 p.m.

OXFORD, Ala. – The West Alabama softball team fell in game one against Auburn Montgomery 8-1 Saturday morning at Choccolocco Park and game two will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Gulf South Conference Tournament. 
 
The Tigers fall to 28-24 overall and AUM improves to 41-9 on the season. 
 
Alanna Goble (11-2) earned the win for AUM working the first six frames and allowed just three hits and one run. Goble struck four batters out and walked one. Morgan Ferguson and Hannah Creel pitched the final inning, and both struck one batter out and walked two. 
 
Hannah Mynard (15-7) was tagged with the loss going three complete innings and allowed six earned runs and seven hits. Kaeleigh Crutchfield came in for relief and worked the final four innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits.  
 
AUM scored six runs in the first two innings to begin the game. Gia Martin and Chloe Derrick both batted in two runs and Derrick hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Lexie Bullock, Shelby Newsome, and Olivia Aycock each batted in one run for the Warhawks. 
 
The Tigers were held to three hits, and they all came from Cassie Matlock. Nicole Buccieri reached a fielding error and Matlock scored the only run of the game for the Tigers in the sixth inning.  
 
The two teams will return to Choccolocco Park at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in an elimination game with the winning team advance to the GSC Tournament Championship on Sunday.
