Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

West Alabama Loses 3-0 Against #15 Columbus State in Season Opener

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The West Alabama women's soccer team opened the 2022 regular season Friday night with a 3-0 loss to No. 15th ranked Columbus State at the Walden Soccer Complex in a nonconference matchup. 
 
Columbus State's Lauren Barnes scored the first goal of the night in the 12th minute off an assist by Lizz Forshaw. Anna Grady and Emma Beddow scored goals for the Lady Cougars off penalty kicks in the 21st and 74th minute. 
 
West Alabama's Maria Mon made her debut as the Tigers' goalkeeper and recorded seven saves. 
 
Columbus State took 16 shots on the night and 10 were on target. CSU had 12 fouls and UWA had eight. 
 
Both squads were issued a yellow card during the game. 
 
Aileen Charles took the lone shot of the night for the Tigers. Barnes, Grady, and Rachel Sweingard each took two shots for Columbus State.

The Tigers will play one more game in the CSU Invitational on Sunday morning at 10 a.m, against Edward Waters. CSU will take on Mississippi College on Sunday. Live stats will be provided for the game with no live stream available.
