Laidler's PK Pushes Tigers To Win Over West Florida

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama women's soccer team earned three points after taking down West Florida 1-0 on Sunday in a Gulf South Conference matchup.  
 
The Tigers improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in GSC play. The Argos drop to 3-2-1 and 1-1. 
 
In the 11th minute Paige Laidler took a penalty kick and drilled the game winning goal for the Tigers. Laidler's goal was her fourth of the season. 
 
West Florida was looking for an equalizer during the remainder of the game and was unable to score a goal. UWA's goalkeeper Maria Mon had five saves on the day. 
 
The Argos had an opportunity in the 81st minute when Mya Swinton took a shot that Mon saved. Seconds later Kileigh Whited took a shot and Mon got back in position to make her 23rd save of the season.
 
Maciah Lipset was in the back of the net for UWF and she picked up one save that was shot by Dana Cruz
 
West Alabama took five shots and two were on target. West Florida took 11 shots and five were on goal. The match had 29 fouls and three cards were handed out.

West Alabama will return to the pitch on Sept. 18 against Alabama Huntsville in a GSC game at Tiger Stadium, kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
