UWA Men's Soccer to Play Two GSC Matches at Home, Sunday is Cancer Awareness Day

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's soccer team returns to play in Gulf South Conference play on Friday against Christian Brothers and Union on Sunday. Kickoff on Friday is at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
 
The UWA men's and women's soccer games on Sunday will be themed "Think Pink" for cancer awareness. The teams will welcome Linda McQueen of Pell City, Alabama. Linda is the grandmother of former UWA men's soccer player and alum Keegan McQueen. In 2019 and 2020 Linda fought cancer undergoing chemo radiation and immunotherapy. She showed tremendous fighting spirit during this time.
 
The Tigers will bring in a 2-2-4 overall record into the weekend and a 2-0-3 GSC record. Christian Brothers is 5-2-3 and 2-2-2.
 
Graduate Student Patrick Sacher has scored two goals this season. Killian Griffin, Harry Colville, Baronyi Kengeye, and Shane Pettit have each found the back of the net once this season. Griffin and Richard Lopez have each recorded one assist.
 
UWA's goalkeeper Harry Deveney has started seven games and has 21 saves. Deveney and the Tigers have five games where they have not allowed a goal.
 
Christian Brothers Lucho Galizzi has started nine games and has scored on six occasions. Paul Bobai has two assists.
 
Max Klink is the main goalkeeper for CBU and has 29 saves and has allowed six goals.
 
Union is 3-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in GSC play entering their Friday match against Alabama Huntsville.
 
Ostian Bowen has scored six goals for the Bulldogs and has taken 36 shots. Bowen's 36 shots is the most in the GSC. Botond Nemeth has 45 saves in eight games as the Union goalkeeper.
 
Both games will be live streamed and live stats will be offered.
