Three Tigers Posted Double Figures in 67-60 Win over Shorter

ROME, Ga. - West Alabama men's basketball team closed out the two-game road swing with a 67-60 win over Shorter University Saturday evening inside Winthrop-King Centre.
 
The Tigers improved to 17-4 overall and are 13-4 in GSC play. The Hawks dropped to 3-18 overall and are 1-16 in the conference. 
 
Justin Allison led the Tigers with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Thaddeus Williams posted 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Kuran Garner added 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 
 
Terry Durham posted eight points and four rebounds. CJ Melton and Shardarrion Allen each contributed seven points. Melton grabbed eight rebounds. Allen pulled down three boards. Peter Turay added four points and two rebounds to round out the Tigers' scoring. 
 
The Tigers started off hot on an 8-0 run. At the 13:46 mark, UWA stretched the lead to 14-2 off a pair of threes from Williams and Melton. With 9:13 remaining in the half, Durham went on 8-0 run by himself, shooting six free throws and a layup to extend the lead to 24-18. With six minutes left, the Tigers went on an 11-10 run to take the 35-30 lead at halftime. 
 
Allen started the second half with two free throws and a three-pointer, extending the lead to 40-32. The Tigers remained ahead the rest of the game to claim the 67-60 win over the Hawks. 
 
The Hawks shot 46.8 percent from the floor, 26.3 percent from the three-point range, and 57.9 percent from the foul line. Micah Hodges posted 17 points and grabbed six rebounds. 
 
The Tigers return to Pruitt Hall on Thursday to take on Mississippi College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
