LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama women's Soccer team defeated Auburn Montgomery in full time by a score of 2-0 in Livingston at Tiger Stadium.
West Alabama opened up the game firing away early and often as they took four shots in the first 12 minutes of play. The Tiger's Sierra O'Grady cracked the Warhawk's defenses in the 12th minute, assisted by Saylor Richard, putting West Alabama up 1-0 early in the first half.
The Warhawk's Sydney Garth attempted to respond briefly after in the 16th minute but missed wide. AUM's Anila Mantello gave it another go in the 17th minute, but her shot was saved by Dior Wilson. Sydney Garth wouldn't back down, taking two more shots in the 25th and 30th minutes, but to no avail.
UWA's Selis Demirci added more salt to the wound for the Warhawk's in the last minutes of the first half, assisted by Venla Makela, putting the Tigers in command 2-0 to close the first half.
The Warhawk's shooting struggles continued, as they couldn't find the goal in the 2nd half, giving West Alabama the 2-0 victory.
West Alabama improves to 4-4-2, and 4-1-1 in GSC play, while Auburn Montgomery moves to 2-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the GSC.
West Alabama will travel to Jackson, Tennessee to take on the Bulldogs of Union on Friday October 6th.
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
