LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama women's soccer team was defeated by The Union University Bulldogs in full time 3-1 in Jackson, Tennessee.
West Alabama's Paige Laidler struck first at the 24' mark unassisted to give the Tigers the early momentum with a 1-0 lead. Despite being outshot 14-12 overall by Union, West Alabama finished the match with more shots on goal, with a 7-6 advantage.
Union's Rebekah Jackson tied the game up 1-1 off an assist from Lucia Revuelto at the 43' minute mark.
The Tigers struggled offensively in the 2nd half, as the Bulldogs poured on to their lead at the 51' mark, courtesy of Sophie Walsh off an assist by Ava Duval.
Sierra O'Grady attempted to answer just 21 seconds later, but her shot was saved by Rylee Iorio. O'Grady gave it another go at the 58' mark but missed out on top.
Union added the nail to the coffin for the Tigers at the 67' mark, with a goal from Ava Duval, assisted by Hannah Patterson and Ines Gama. West Alabama couldn't find any traction offensively after a quick start, falling to the Bulldogs on the road after going undefeated for the past five matchups.
West Alabama will continue its weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon, as they take on The Buccaneers of Christian Brothers in Memphis. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
