LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama women's soccer team was defeated in full-time by the Choctaws of Mississippi College 2-1 in Livingston inside Tiger Stadium.
The first half was quiet offensively, with West Alabama only taking one shot in the first half, courtesy of Mikayla Anderson that was blocked. The Choctaws took four shots in the first half, two of which were on goal and saved by the Tiger's Dior Wilson.
The Choctaws broke the scoring silence at the 65' mark with a goal from Caroline Naman assisted by Margherita Giubilato. Mississippi College wouldn't keep their foot off the gas, as they put the nail in the coffin taking a 2-0 lead late courtesy of Erin Hederman.
Mikayala Anderson tried to stop the bleeding in the 84th minute, with a goal off an assist from Paige Laidler. The Tigers couldn't find the net again, as the Choctaws took the advantage 2-1.
West Alabama falls to 4-7-2 overall, with a 4-4-1 record in the Gulf South Conference, while Mississippi College moves up to 7-2-1 overall and a 6-2 record in the Gulf South Conference. The Tigers will face Delta State on Senior Day in their final home game on Sunday, October 15th. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
