HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The University of West Alabama women's soccer team was defeated in full time by the University of Alabama Huntsville by a score of 2-0 on the UAH campus.
Despite the lopsided score, The Tigers only took two fewer shots than the Chargers on the night with West Alabama taking six shots compared to Alabama Huntsville's eight. Despite this, West Alabama and UAH's shot-on-goal goal numbers were identical with four apiece.
The Chargers found the back of the net inside the first 11 minutes, courtesy of Carmen Endicott off an assist from Maria Jansen. West Alabama's Venla Makela attempted to answer just a few minutes later at the 14-minute mark but was saved by CeCe Szopa. The Charger's defenses wouldn't budge as Amy Denholm gave it a go in the 33rd minute but was saved by Szopa.
Alabama Huntsville put one more in inside 10 minutes to go in regulation courtesy of Jayla Gillespie off an assist from Carmen Endicott.
West Alabama falls to 5-7-2 overall and 5-5-1 in GSC (Gulf South Conference) play, while UAH moves up to 7-5-2 and 5-4-2 in GSC play. The Tigers will hit the road to Pensacola next Friday, October 27th to take on West Florida. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
