PENSACOLA, Fla.- The University of West Alabama women's soccer team was defeated by The University of West Florida in full-time tonight by a score of 1-0 in Pensacola.
West Florida wasted no time getting on the board early, as the Argo's Bela Labovic scored off an assist from Ahnalie Layman at the tail end of the 7th minute.
The Argos outshot the Tigers 21-3 overall, and nine shots to one on goal, the widest shot differential of the season for West Alabama. Dior Wilson recorded 4 saves in each half, keeping West Florida off of the board for the rest of the match.
Paige Laidler took the lone shot on goal for the Tigers in the 31st minute but was saved by the Argo's Maciah Lipsey.
The West Florida defense was smothering, as Aileen Charles took the last shot by the West Alabama offense in the 57th minute of the match.
West Alabama falls to 5-8-2 on the season, with a 5-6-1 record in the GSC, while 16th-ranked West Florida moves to 14-1-1, with an 11-1-0 record in the GSC.
The Tigers will play their final match of the season against Spring Hill on Sunday, October 29th in Mobile. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
