Women close out Road trip with loss to CBU

LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama women's soccer team was defeated by The Buccaneers of Christian Brothers in full time by a score of 2-1 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Sierra O'Grady played aggressively early, as she took the first shot of the match at the 8' mark but missed out top. Paige Laidler followed suit in the 10th minute but was saved by CBU's Chloe Hillyer. The Tigers found themselves in a shot for shot grudge match with the Bucs for most of the 1st half of play.

Luckily for West Alabama, Sierra O'Grady, who started the frenzy, broke CBU's defenses in the 42nd minute assisted by Summer Fox and Aileen Charles.

O'Grady and company took the 1-0 lead into halftime. After a long 2nd half scoring drought, Christian Brothers answered with a goal at the 77' mark by Alice Legnedahl unassisted. O'Grady continued her aggressive play to counter and take back the lead in the 79th minute, missing right.

Lily Graham would take a shot in target at the 83' mark but would be saved by Chloe Hillyer.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, CBU jumped ahead at the 84' mark with a goal from Mya Gargone, setting the Bucs up with the 2-1 victory.

West Alabama falls to 4-5-2 overall with a 4-3-1 record in GSC Play, while Christian Brothers improves to 4-5-3 with a 2-4-1 record in GSC play. The Tigers will travel back home this weekend to take on Mississippi College on Senior Night inside Tiger Stadium in Livingston. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
