Tigers Wrap Up Old Coast Classic with a 7-2 Win over Emory & Henry

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - West Alabama's softball team pounded out 10 hits to score seven runs in the 7-2 win over Emory & Henry Sunday afternoon to wrap up the Gulf Coast Classic at Flagler Field. The Tigers improved to 6-3 overall. 
 
Ann Marie Stanbridge and Emily Cowart each tallied two hits. Kelsie Gilliam, Taylor Clegg, LP Trammell, Riley Sullivan, Leah Beth Stewart, and Karley McDaniel each had a hit. Stanbridge collected three RBIs, while Trammell had two. 
 
Gilliam scored in the first inning. She was hit by a pitch, then stole second and third. Gilliam scored on an error by the catcher. Trammell's bunt scored Stanbridge, closing the first inning with a 2-0 lead. 
 
The Tigers pushed three runs across the plate in the second inning, improving the lead to 5-0. Stanbridge doubled, bringing Clegg, Gilliam, and McDaniel home. Emory & Hungry scored one run in the third inning to trim the lead to 5-1.  
 
Both teams scored a run in the fourth inning. Trammell's sacrifice fly scored Clegg. Stewart singled in the fifth inning, scoring Cowart. Neither team scored the remainder of the game, allowing the Tigers to claim the 7-2 win. 
 
Madison Wright (3-2) picked up the win. She scattered four hits, gave up one earned run, and struck out nine over seven innings of work. 
 
Emory & Henry's pitcher Avery Adkins (0-2) was tagged with the loss. She gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and struck out nine. 
 
The Tigers head to Carrollton, Georgia, on Saturday to open up GSC play with a doubleheader against West Georgia. First pitch is set for noon CT.
