MONTEVALLO, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis team picked up a Gulf South Conference win against Montevallo Tuesday afternoon at the Montevallo Tennis Court Complex by a score of 6-1.
"This was a good way to start the conference season," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "I like the way we competed across the board and the depth we have this year."
All three doubles courts won allowing UWA to take the 1-0 lead. Lucas Hammond and Marcel Hornung led on court one, 6-1. Followed by IIari Vesnan and IIia Deboubuik 7-5 on court two, and Wilson Igbinovia and Nutti Jokinen 6-4 on court three.
In singles, the Tigers won 5 out of 6 matches in straight sets. Jokinen, Loic Danze, and Hornung lead the team by defining the overall score 4-0. Hammond and Igbinovia also grabbed wins on court 6 and 4.
